[RECOMMENDED] - Kele Goodwin
I really don’t know how I stumbled upon Kele Goodwin, but I’m glad I did. His album Hymns was released Sep 14 of last year and it hit my Top 5 favorites of 2010. His style of music is the kind of thing I want to achieve on this new album I’m going to make. Simple. He draws comparisons of Nick Drake which is accurate. Quiet folky tunes with a resonating voice. Definitely should...

[RECOMMENDED] - Strand of Oaks
Alright, so Timothy Showalter is the man behind Strand of Oaks and the album “Pope Killdragon” had made my top 25 in 2010. I wish I had listened to it more last year because now I can’t get it out of my head. Specifically the song below. It definitely could have been in the top 5. If you dig folky tunes and an excellent voice, then this will be up your alley. I first found out...

RECOMMENDED: Andy Ulseth →
New section for this blog. Are you all excited? Here I will recommend musicians that I think you should check out and support. Cool, right? First up. Andy Ulseth. I played a show with Andy a couple years ago in Minneapolis and I was completely drawn to his tunes, his words and his badassness. Folky and awesome. I remember before playing the gig and living in Mpls for a bit, I always tried to...

[insert happy dance here] If you like folk songs about animals, (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?) follow him here on tumblr to watch his progress and...

Another verse of a song that will be on this here album. It’s an old song. I wrote it shortly after I released the Drowned Coast. Oct/Nov 2008. Whoa. It’s called Seaweed. Also, I totally took off my glasses because of the glare from my computer screen. So that’s why I squint at the end. (Of course, the normal thing to do would be to shut off the screen, but oh well)

Another new song. This time you get some very quiet lyrics. The first verse / chorus. Enjoy.

Here’s another riff I’m working on. I came up with a better chorus line too. Which makes me happy. Oh and this one is about a Brown Bear.

Untitled
So right now for this kickstarter album I’ve got  6 ready polished songs, 2 that are near polished. The goal is to create 2 relatively short instrumentals for an opener and closer for the two $100+ pledgers (Nicole & Bryan O.) So that would be 10. I think I’d like to come up with a 1 or 2 more to add. But so far no ideas. I was wondering what you thought. Do you think a 10 song...

I got a new web cam, so now I can do things like this. This is a riff for a new song, which happens to be about a sparrow.
